A green season in the sun

2008, a year with misfortune.

 

As a Chinese, I am quite sadden by the two greatly unfortunate issues, the unrest happened in Tibet followed by the serious earthquake broke out in Sichuan province. As one of our chiefs of state said, 2008 will be a hard and very crucial year. Indeed, what he said has been proven by the situation in which China now is. Everybody may agree that the present situation is really unpleasant and depressing, as the issue concerning the independence of Tibet has not been solved while the people in Sichuan are still in grief about their dear families suffered from the disaster and their destroyed home. I think all the Chinese has been seriously influenced by the sad mood, as well as our economic development.

 

2008 actually should be a year with great joy and economic development fueled by the coming significant event----the Olympic game. However, negative things come first. Although people should be confident about China all the time and whatever happens, many of them has become not as positive as before.

 

In Singapore, especially the Chinese scholars are eager to do something as much as possible for their motherland, such as they have design T-shirt printed “go Beijing, go Olympic” , and they actively support the donation activities for the poor compatriots in Sichuan to show their patriotism.

 

Anyway, now we have to gather up our courage and strength to confront the problem together and get over all of them. Finally I wish the Olympic game will be held very successfully.

2008/5/15

 

Due to the good grade I got in the just past chemistry paper of mid-year exam, I was chosen with other nineteen boys who also did quite well in the chem. paper to go the SIMTech ((Singapore Institute of manufacturing technology) of NTU（national technology university）today.

 

In the morning, after the flag raising, we started our trip. The bus took about one hour to transfer us from the east part of Singapore to the west in which the NTU is. Here, the environment was particularly nice: white tall buildings, which surrounded by the green grass and trees, erect in order.

 

Later, our guide, one of the managers of the SIMTech ushered us into a median meeting room. She first gave us a brief introduction of SIMTech that it is a local science research agency and it functions as an impulse to fuel the economic development by helping the local companies to produce high-tech production using the latest technology. Besides, SIMTech sponsors top students scholarship in the top five JC.

 

After the welcome meeting, a completely bald and handsome foreigner began lecturing. He first showed us an example that it is a tremendous work load to clean the large-denomination glass of the double tower building in Kuala Lumpur. So by the long-term technological research, they have invented a new program called self-cleaning coatings.it means that once the glass of buildings is coated by a special layer of chemicals, TiO2 ，then they will able to clean itself. To be more specific, under the sunshine, TiO2 will produce much of electrons, which will then react with the oxygen and the dust adheres on the surface of the glass. When the rain comes down, rainwater can rinse the glass to be completely clean. In addition to the main theory of the program, he also told us many details of the program which are pretty high-leveled and not understandable.

 

His lecture lasted more than one hour. Then it was the tea time!!! they book a box of hamburgers and a box of apple pie for us!!! Being surprised, we stuffed our stomachs fully.

 

With the food digestion in our belly, we began our next lesson given by an Chinese engineer, who spoke English with a strong and funny Chinese accent. Honestly, What he taught are deep, profound and tedious, for instance he brought us the points of Photoluminescence,LED,energy conversion,excitation,relaxation,chemiluminescence,and thermoluminescence. One moment, I turned back and saw that nearly every guys were sleeping with their heads wobbling, including our teacher. Haha…… anyway, I have to admit that in the cold condition created by the air-con, people get sleepy easily.

 

In the afternoon, we got a chance to visit their chemical lab. They demonstrated the how phosphorescence works and how to spread the organic solution of the special layer onto the surface of glass using one rotate bale machine. After that, we went upstairs to watch the process of the formation of coating and went downstairs to find out the thickness of the coating using a sophisticated machine which was connected to a computer for analysis and calculating and graphing.

 

Finally, before we leave, we were again provided yummy food, pizza and sausage by them!!!!  Actually everybody got totally stuffed by having three meals in eight hours. Hehe…… somebody even said that in fact we came here for food  but not for learning.

I am here to say hello to you all once again. I am fine and how are you now ?

 

It seems that both you and I have forgotten I have a blog here, even have been adding nothing new into it for a long time, I am so sorry. Not excusing for myself, I just want to tell you, I may have been a lazy bone or I really have endless tasks that need to be fulfilled all the time.

 

Perhaps you are similar to me. Every day, actually the same bustle greets me as I step out from the swinging doors of the school building. Each day, the same hurried footsteps and frazzled looks greet me as I make my way to the MRT station where I board the same train every day to the same bus station. On the road, people are all in a hurry, heading towards their respite for the night. Watching them, I was often at a loss. Anyway I join the crowd, as remote as them, or more than them, and wrapped up in my own thoughts.

 

The bus stop is crowded with anxious commuters who peer eagerly at each bus that makes its appearance in the distance. Each time a bus stops at the bus bay, a horde of commuters will throng forward to engage in the jostling and pushing that will hopefully get them a seat in the already crowded vehicle. For me, every time I go straight to the upstairs. When the bus becomes too full for any more commuters to board it, the unlucky ones walk away from the departing vehicle in disappointment.

 

Seating on the chair and leaning again the window, I always feel like to gawk at the world outside, filled with flowing vehicles, the light from sun set, the buildings, the trees and so on, which are all familiar and unacquainted to me. Looking inside, several secondary students sitting in front row are chitchatting with each other with laughter. Some of them are just commending the music they share from the one’s ipod, Some are talking about what happened today in their school. How joyful they are. I often tried to concentrate on the book held in my hands, but I can not control my eyeballs, as well as my thinking, which has taken me out of the bus to another place.

 

Getting off the bus, the sky has been painted as dark blue. Street lamps light on, cars’ spotlights turn on, light from the family in the house illuminate the way to my hostel. I keep going forward in a high pace, for what? Of course for my dinner, my homework, and my respite…….

这么久没有更新，估计早就没人看了吧，呵呵……

时间过的真快，转眼间2月就要过去了，不知道大家好吗？我可是小累了，眼看着第一个学段就要结束了，假期（才9天）就快要到了，可是！华文老师突然说要补课，物理老师也说要补课…………听了以后差点没有晕过去。不过想到还剩下的可怜兮兮的5天假期，还是满足了。

这个月给我印象最深的就是我的中华文学，这里所谓的中华文学，实际上就背那一大叠连老师都觉得枯燥的讲义，至于讲义里的内容，都是由关于中国古代文学的发展、内容等，比如我们这个阶段在苦背的就是各个时期朝代的诗歌特色、风格等一类评论的东西，背到脑子都大了。不背不行，不然怎么对付那突如其来的考试呢？

前段时间，我们学校搞了一个什么learning journey，实际上就是到市中心区参观有关于历史的建筑物；上个星期，又有一个cross coutry，算是运动会吧，在我们学校旁边的一个大公园里举行，要求是每个同学都跑个3500米，挺没趣的，不过这里公园的环境不错，那一天还不用上课。

就这些了.

大家新年快乐哈，我在新加坡跟大家拜年了，祝大家在新的一年里学习进步，身体健康，开开心心，万事如意。

今年的春节我是第一次在国外过，幸福的是我爸爸妈妈来新加坡跟我一起过，所以总的来说这次的年过的还是挺开心的，在朋友家也吃了不少好吃的。不过好时光总是短暂的，爸爸妈妈明天就要回去了，我又得开始刻苦了。不过说实话我也放松够了，是时候再开始学习了 。

Hi everyone, i'd like to greet you all with a early "Happy Chinese New Year!"

unconsciously, one month has gone by swiftly. This is my first month in Catholic High, which is also the most impressive month among the three months. For many unexpectable affairs happened in this month, which are meaningful and thought-provoking. Some are present, the others are not.

First, one of my roommates did something he must not do and naturally he was penalized seriously. This thing did a greatly bad influence to the expression of the teachers for us，including all the Chinese scholars. Honestly, almost every one hates him and leaves him except me for the reason that I know I can not do that. He is the one who does need help. That is it , forget it ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Another piece of news is that many boys has been missing home for a long time. Finally I got to know that boys can be weak and missing home, actually I never thought that boys will cry for that . the other night, some did cry……… they regard me as their brother and tell me everything about family and the emotions unrevealed at  their depth of mind. There is story behind every boys, nothing I could do but to be a listener^^^

This week is called Master Review Week, obviously we had our master review exams this week. Disappointing and expectable, maybe only my math and higher Chinese can pass the exam………………

Next week, we are going to welcome 5 days off for Chinese new year, and there will be a celebration held by my school and I was selected to be the host!!!  And the other boys will also do a performance.
